Kristan Higgins- If You Only Knew

I received an ARC of this book from Chatterbox from House Party!  And that's perfect, because I like to talk, especially about books!

If I have read a Kristan Higgins book before, it's been such a long time ago that I have forgotten so for all practical purposes, she's a new-to-me author.  I got sucked in immediately to the drama that was Jenny's life.  She can't hate her ex-husband or his new wife and heaven forbid she not be involved in their child's life! She needs to get away from them, yet she can't quite shake them, even when she moves to Cambry-on- Hudson. It was an interesting dynamic and it was sad to watch her when she had to interact with them.

I enjoyed how realistic this book was; the lives of the characters and what's going on around them. Life with Rachel's triplet girls is oftentimes hilarious with the kids being, well, little kids.  You can feel her frustration and anger towards her husband after she finds out he's been unfaithful.   As a reader, I felt frustrated for her and would hate to be put in her situation, but again, it felt realistic and believable.  Jenny's life on the other hand is different, but she is struggling as well.  I enjoyed the banter back and forth between her and her attractive landlord.

This wasn't a fast-paced story, but it was well developed and executed.  It was enjoyable in that I wanted to keep reading it but it wasn't until close to the end that I found myself not wanting to put it down.  The things that happened with Leo and Jenny were absolutely delish! The way Kristan wrote them, had the reader hanging on, yearning for more. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming watching Leo's story unfold and Jenny's maelstrom of emotions kept building and building until they had nowhere to go but out.  SO SO GOOD!  I highly recommend this book!

The drama, hilarity and tears of sisterhood are at the heart of the thoroughly captivating new novel by New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins- a funny, frank and bittersweet look at marriage, forgiveness and moving on.

Letting go of her ex-husband is harder than wedding-dress designer Jenny Tate expected... especially since his new wife wants to be Jenny's new best friend.  Sensing this isn't helping her achieve closure, Jenny trades the Manhattan skyline for her hometown up the Hudson, where she'll start her own business and bask in her sister Rachel's picture-perfect family life... and maybe even find a little romance of her own with Leo, her downstairs neighbor, a guy who's utterly irresistible and annoyingly distant at the same time.

Rachel's idyllic marriage, however, is imploding after she discovers her husband sexting with a colleague.  She always thought she'd walk away in this situation, but her triplet daughters have her reconsidering her stance on adultery, much to Jenny's surprise.  Rachel points to their parents' perfect marriage as a shining example of patience and forgiveness; but to protect her sister, Jenny may have to tarnish that memory- and their relationship- and reveal a family secret she's been keeping since childhood.

Both Rachel and Jenny will have to come to terms with the past and the present and find a way to get what they want most of all.
