Marina Adair - Romeantically Challenged review

I enjoyed this book! It was so sweet and a little quirky. Annie is an interesting character. I liked that she was smart and had a good career. She was only in Rome, Rhode Island for a short time.  Life had thrown her for a loop and she was a little lost. I liked that she was also doing a little soul searching. She didn't need a guy, in fact, she was wanting to be man-free! I found myself laughing out loud at times .... the way in which Annie and Emmitt met especially! Emmitt's world was unique and his friendship/closeness with the men in his life with was an added bonus or complexity at times! But they were his family. And they all embraced Annie. There were things Emmitt wasn't able to hide from Annie and their chemistry was palpable. I enjoyed their budding relationship. I liked how they fit in each others lives! This book was complex, fun and gave me the feels. Don't let this book pass you by!

“Marina Adair is a breath of fresh air. . . . Don't miss a word from this magnificent author!"
—New York Times bestselling author Darynda Jones

Growing up the lone Asian in a community of WASPs, Annie has always felt out of place.  Her solution?  Start a family of her own. Not easy when every man she’s dated, including her ex-fiancĂ©, finds “his person” right after breaking up with Annie. Even worse than canceling the wedding eight weeks beforehand?  Learning the “other woman” plans to walk down the aisle wearing her wedding gown. New plan—find a fresh, man-free start. Too bad her exit strategy unexpectedly lands her working at a hospital in Rome, Rhode Island, rather than Rome, Italy, and sharing a cabin with a big, brooding, and annoyingly hot male roommate.

Home on medical leave after covering a literally explosive story in China, investigative photojournalist Emmitt embarks on his most important assignment—cementing his place in his daughter’s life. Three men and a baby might work in the movies, but with a stepdad and devoted uncle competing for Paisley’s attention, Emmitt has lost his place at the family table. Then there’s the adorably sexy squatter in his cabin, who poses another problem, one he’d very much like to solve up close and personal. But he can’t win—Annie has sworn off men, Paisley’s gone boy crazy, and Emmitt’s estranged father reappears with a secret that changes everything.

Annie and Emmitt are about to discover love comes in many forms, and sometimes the best families are the ones we make.

Praise for Marina Adair

“Small town sweetness, endearing characters and a unique quirky flair."

My Review

I really enjoyed this book! I was lost in Boyd and Ruby's journey. I liked their very interesting and sometimes funny meeting. It was super awkward but sweet. Ruby got to Boyd unlike anyone else had. I loved Boyd's family! He might have moved away from them, but they still kept in touch and harassed each other like only family can do. They were a close-knit bunch but they welcomed others. Ruby was quickly embraced by the Mitchells. I liked how Boyd was there for Ruby in a difficult time and he never pressured her. He was simply there for her, no matter what she needed. This book was so sweet and fun and I didn't want to leave their world! Add this one to your list, for sure!

L.A. Fiore - Crash Into Me review

Whew boy! I looooooved this book! I couldn't put it down. I was completely lost in the mystery and the thrill of this read. Molly was a good cop. She was on the hunt for a killer and her path crossed with wealthy businessman, Kade Wakefield. He was not someone she would have met otherwise, but the chemistry between them was STRONG! I liked the pull they had between them and seeing their relationship evolve. They also made a good team; they worked well together!  I liked the relationships between Molly and the people closest to her. The web of lies was deep and the things Molly and her partner, Zac, had to wade through held me captivated. This book kept me lost in its twists and turns and I had to find out what was really going on. Who was behind everything?! I got all those answers and so much more. Be sure to put this book on your radar!

When a stabbing death calls homicide detective Molly Donahue and her partner to Central Park, it’s just the beginning of a string of murders in an investigation that leads them to Los Angeles, and the death of a Hollywood starlet three decades earlier.

During the course of their investigating, they interview billionaire Kade Wakefield. Molly isn’t prepared for her reaction to him. He’s stoic, intense and possibly on the wrong side of the law, but she’s undeniably attracted.

Kade Wakefield isn’t expecting detective Molly Donahue. She’s the law, and he follows it when it suits him, but the insatiable hunger she stirs has his well-honed control pushing at the cage to break free.

As the investigation heats up, they start an intensely passionate affair but soon learn what’s between them is more than physical, something they’re willing to give it all up for, but her case takes a deadly turn and the one she hunts is now hunting them.

Kendall Ryan - How To Date A Younger Man review

How to Date a Younger Man

By Kendall Ryan

Release Day: July 21, 2020

About the Book

Tips for Surviving a Fling with a Sexy Younger Man

First, you’d think as a thirty-something-year-old woman, I’d be immune to Griffin’s flirty comments and six-pack abs. You’d think that his carefree playboy attitude, or the fact that he’s still finishing grad school, would deter me.

You’d be wrong.

If you accidentally bang your best friend’s younger brother, here are a few important tips . . .

One: Do not brag to your friend about how well-endowed her brother is.

Two: Do not go back for seconds (or thirds).

Three: Do not let him see your muffin top or jiggly behind. And definitely don’t let him feed you cookies in bed. Cookies are bad. Remember that.

Four: Act like a damn grown-up and apologize for riding him like a bull at the rodeo. And do not flirt with him when he laughs at said apology.

Five: This one is crucial, so pay attention.

Do not, under any circumstances, fall in love with him.

My Review

This was such a fun read! I liked the chemistry between Layne and Griffin. It was palpable through the pages and Layne was quick to friend zone him. He had two things going against him, he was Kristen's little brother. But despite that, they could only ignore the sexual tension for so long! I liked that they had a solid friendship and it wasn't something they defined. Soon, they just enjoyed each other's company and I wanted Layne to let go and quit worrying about everything else! I was quickly lost in this story and it put me in a good mood and gave me the feels! Don't let this book pass you by!

✮ About The Proposal ✮

When I envisioned Zara Logan dropping to her knees in front of me, this wasn't what I had in mind...

I was expecting a lot less glaring and a lot more moaning.

Instead, she's proposing an enticing deal that I can't bear to walk away from.

To land one of the city’s biggest clients, she wants us to put our differences aside and play fake fiancĂ©s for the next thirty days.

So, I slip the diamond ring onto her finger and agree to play the perfect fiancĂ©. How hard can this be?

A hell of a lot harder than I thought...

She’s infuriatingly stubborn and she thinks I’m a cocky jerk with an enormous ego. (She’s right, but I can definitely back it up...)

As our long days stretch into even later nights, it’s getting harder to remember we’re only playing pretend, which means one thing.

She won’t be faking it for long…

The Proposal is a brand-new series from Maya Hughes. Get ready for a fun, fake fiancĂ© romance to kick off the SWANK series.

✮ My Review ✮

This book was swoony, sweet and so much fun to get lost in! I adored the feud between Zara and Leo. Zara has a lot riding on the work project she has been assigned to. Zara has been focused on her brother and is busting her tail to give him the best life. When the biggest deal of her career is hanging in the balance, drastic measures must be taken.  I LOVE a good fake fiance, don't you?! Nothing brings people together better. And that was definitely true for Leo and Zara. I liked how they balanced each other out and the chemistry between them was H-O-T-T! I also liked the relationship between Leo and his friends. They were different and had some differences, but they were there for each other when most needed. I couldn't read this book fast enough.

✮ Excerpt From The Proposal ✮

“You want me to propose to you?” With muscles tense and tight, she stared at me before crossing the room to me in two strides.

“It’ll make a wonderful story to tell if anyone asks. Or we can call the whole thing off and confess, but you’re the one who led us down this path with the relationship talk. Kathleen would probably kick us off the project. Or maybe just you.”

Her gaze narrowed. “Just when I think you’re not a complete asshole. Fine.” The word shot out like a nail gun. Covering her mouth, she mumbled into her hand. “Will you pretend to be my fake fiancĂ© for the next thirty days?”

I cupped my hand around my ear. “That wasn’t exactly romantic and you’re not even on bended knee. Boyz II Men would be disappointed.” I dangled the ring in front of her.

She squeezed her forehead and snatched it out of my hand.

I braced myself for her to fling it straight into my face, but she didn’t. Hiking up the skirt of her suit an inch, she lowered herself to the floor with her gaze trained on mine. The intensity of her emerald gaze sent my blood thrumming through my veins. Her thick eyelashes framed her eyes and the ill wishes she was trying to sear into my brain.

But damn if her sinking to her knees in front of me didn’t flash me into a whole different set of circumstances with her where she wasn’t wishing me dead and I wasn’t trying to steal this project out from under her.

“Leo Charles Wilder, will you please agree to be my fake fiancĂ© for the next thirty days and make me the most miserable woman on earth?” She held out the ring in her palm.

I tapped my finger against my lips and stared up at the ceiling. “When you put it like that…”

  Exclusive Excerpt:

“Sorry for rambling,” I say, giving him another smile. “It’s way too early in the morning to be debating something so highbrow. So, how ’bout them Sox, huh?”

Boyd looks at me with a twinkle in his eyes, a kind of friendly charm I wasn’t expecting from him, regardless of how well we got on with our chat.

What I wouldn’t give to look at that kind of handsome joy every day for the rest of my life.

A stupid thought, sure, but still true.

“I bet you ten dollars you can’t name a single player on the team this year.”

I narrow my eyes, trying to hide my smile as I shake my head. “I’m not a gambling girl.”

“You’d gamble if you knew you were probably going to win.” His response is as quick as lightning. “People only choose not to gamble when they’re afraid they’ll lose.”

“That is so not true.” I giggle. “Some of us poor folk don’t gamble because we can’t take the risk. Not all of us are first class aficionados with money to throw around willy-nilly.”

“Nobody says willy-nilly anymore.”

I snort. “Clearly that’s false, because I just did.”

He bites his lip and shakes his head, and I can’t help the little thing that keeps bouncing around in my chest.

We like him, it tells me. We like him a lot.

Is this flirting? We are definitely flirting, right? I hope so, because it has been far too long since I’ve enjoyed a good flirt sesh with someone as handsome as Boyd.

That’s a lie.

I’ve never flirted with someone as handsome as Boyd. He is in a league of his own.

Before I can say anything else, the plane lurches forward, and it feels like my stomach is going to fall out of my body.

My eyes slam shut and my throat closes up, my hands gripping the armrests for dear life as the plane barrels down the runway, all the good feelings from my talk with Boyd rushing out of me with a surreal quickness.

It’s going to be okay.

It’s going to be okay.

It’s going to be okay.

I’m like that for who knows how long before I feel a hand on top of mine, the warmth and roughness surprising me enough that my eyes fly open, taking in the man sitting next to me.

He lifts my hand and twists his fingers in mine, the sensation robbing me of my voice—and maybe my sanity.

For the rest of my life, I’ll remember exactly what he says to me. Not just the words, but the soothing tone of his voice and the earnest caring in his eyes, so surprising from someone I was expecting to ignore me for the entire flight.

“It’s okay to be afraid,” he says. “I can’t take that feeling away from you, but I can hold your hand until it’s over so you know you’re not alone.”
