“Your Highness, please back away. In fact, it would be best if you left the room altogether.” Felix put himself between me and Roberts. “Kelsey, I need you to push her down. Push her back down for a few moments. Marcus will be back soon and he’s going to take care of you. Being around those angels unsettled you. I don’t know if you noticed, but at the end of the meeting, your ward fell off. You didn’t have it on when Oliver shook your hand. He’s unbalanced and now you are, too. It’s like a contagion for someone like you. Oliver’s illness has called up your inner wolf and she’s angry.” “Perhaps if I touch her,” Henri began. “I’m an academic. I don’t have the same connection she has with Marcus, but I might be able to help.”
“I’m not unbalanced.” It didn’t matter that my hands were shaking and they had been ever since I’d left the angels behind.
“I’m going to talk to the wolf whether you like it or not. He’s been handling silver. It’s the only reason his hands wouldn’t have healed. Even then, a couple of hours would have done it. Unless the freaking silver he held came straight from Heaven. What about it, Roberts? How did you spend last night?”
The wolf was shaking his head. “I don’t know.”
That wasn’t an answer I was willing to accept. I was about to explain that to everyone when Chad stepped up and got in my face.
“I’m taking him out of here now,” Chad explained. “You’ll let me or we’re going to have trouble.”
I was ready for trouble. I was fairly sure I grinned, the idea of fighting a vamp lifting my spirits high. For the first time in what felt like hours, I went still. “You’re not going anywhere.”
Chad turned, his shoulders squaring, and I felt the world begin to bend around me. Chad belongs to one of the rarest classes of vampire—the magicians. As far as I knew, he was the only one walking the night at this time. He could form illusions so real you could taste food, feel imaginary rain on your skin, utterly believe whatever he wanted you to believe. I’d come up against him before. I might be one of the only people in the world who could see through him.
“It won’t work,” I said calmly as reality seemed to go dark and I heard the hissing of snakes all around me. “Do you not remember what happened the last time you pulled this shit on me? It took three tranqs to take me down. I don’t think you have those on you today.”
“I won’t need them.” Chad lifted his hand and the world shifted.
“Holy shit,” Casey said, climbing up on his desk. “What the fuck is happening?”
Snakes were happening. They were crawling from the woodwork, twitching and hissing my way. The fibers of the carpet beneath my feet lengthened and formed more snakes until they were a menacing mass, threatening everyone in the room.
Well, except for Chad, who had lifted his husband into his arms and prepared to take him away.
I let my wolf loose a bit. She knew this was all an illusion. That primitive part of my brain that Chad was accessing, the lizard brain that merely wanted to survive, was taken over by the wolf inside me. The alpha wolf didn’t want mere survival. She wanted to dominate, and that meant seeing past fear, trusting her instincts over what her eyes perceived.
The minute I opened the door, I felt her surge through me.
“I’m not letting you go. I can’t. I’m conducting a murder investigation, and I believe your boy here just became my prime suspect.” My hands twitched, eager for a fight, and I realized how long it had been since Marcus and I had thrown down.
Too long. Remember that whole thing about needing sex or violence to feed my inner wolf? Well, she was hungry and there was a whole lot of violence in Chad’s eyes.
I welcomed it. I could feel the need rise like a wave threatening to engulf me. This was why I had a trainer in the first place.
I gritted my teeth because Chad turned on his power. I could feel those fucking snakes climbing my legs and sinking their fangs into me. I refused to pay any attention to them despite the fact that I ached to rip the fuckers off me and toss them aside. To do that would have given the magician more power. If I bought into it, if I took my eyes off the only thing in the room that was real, I would end up like Casey, who was screaming like a girl.
“Let me pass, Hunter,” Chad said.
I stood my ground like the good Gandalf I was. Except I kind of wanted to shove my nonexistent staff right up old Chad’s ass, and then we would see if he sent snakes my way again.
The anger rose, rapid and quick, a flash fire coursing through me. I didn’t even realize when I had reached for the fireplace poker. All I knew was it was suddenly in my hands and I was going to use it. I could see myself shoving that piece of wrought iron right through his heart. It wouldn’t kill him. I would need wood for that, but then again, I didn’t want the fight over so quickly.
I raised the poker, ready to start.
“Stop it, both of you.” Donovan stepped in between us, but I didn’t care at that moment. I hadn’t felt this way in forever, not since Marcus had taken me in. I hadn’t been so out of control that I didn’t care who I hurt as long as I got to hurt someone. I would fuck up Donovan, too. All that mattered was seeing blood, feeling bones crush.
“You see, I told you she’s far gone and I can’t fix her anymore. I’ve called Gray and he has an idea of what to do,” Marcus was saying.
I wasn’t listening.
I started to bring the poker down Donovan’s way, but I was stopped in mid swing. A hand held my wrist, an arm going around my middle and hauling me back against muscled flesh.
“Stop it,” Trent growled in my ear. “You stand down right this second.”

I really enjoyed this collection of stories! I love the variety they offered, from mobsters to hometown sweethearts. And let me just say this is a great deal for SO MANY books! I enjoyed that there were a lot of new-to-me authors and now I look forward to diving into more books from them.  The majority of these stories are complete, but there were a few cliffhangers in there.  I was completely captivated by these stories and enjoyed getting lost in these authors' worlds. And now I look forward to more Vault volumes!  Get ready to get sucked in just like I did! There's something for everybody in this collection! I definitely recommend this book!

Shayla Black - Misadventures of a Backup Bride review

Oh man! What. A. Book!  Another captivating, page-turner! Carson and Ella met previously, but while they noticed the other, they didn't cross paths again. Until Carson called her up. LA was a hard town to live in and acting was a hard gig.  Ella wasn't currently working on a project so she was able to drop everything and take the job Carson was offering.  Neither was expecting the intense chemistry still there between them, which was palpable through the pages. What started out as a job and acting for both parties, soon they couldn't deny what was between them and they couldn't keep the feelings out of their budding relationship.
I enjoyed watching their relationship grow into something real. Their story was sweet, sexy, maddening and OH-SO-DELICIOUS! It was fast paced and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed the banter between Carson and Ella and I liked that she was a strong woman.  She kept Carson on his toes and he appreciated her for who she was.  His original fiancee wasn't one who struck his fancy or that he could even have a conversation with.  However, there wasn't a problem communicating with Ella in or out of bed! They were a good fit for each other and they had to work through the job and their true feelings. I enjoyed the twists this book brought and highly recommend it!

"A sweet and sexy romp that will leave you smiling from ear to ear..."
—RT Book Reviews, TOP PICK

An Overnight Billionaire…
When Carson Frost inherits a confectionary that rakes in billions but is too cash-strapped to last another sixty days, he agrees to take a loan from his late father’s rival. There are two catches: Carson has to sign over a permanent stake in the company and marry the man’s daughter.

Concocts a Fake Bride…
Two weeks before the wedding, he gets cold feet and claims he’s in love with someone else. The investor says he’ll still hand over the cash if Carson takes a stroll down the aisle—with the woman who owns his heart. Since he isn’t even dating anyone, Carson panics. Where is he going to find a bride willing to jilt him at the altar on such short notice?

And Whips Up a Little Love.
Ella Hope is an actress happy for any paying gig, but jilting a hottie in public isn’t what she had in mind. Still, she needs rent, and he’s in a bind. How hard can it be? While playing at matrimony, suddenly their intimacy isn’t so fake. Ella can’t help but fantasize that Carson is her groom and they will live happily ever after. But once his company is safe, will he want her anymore?

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

J.T. Geissinger - Burn For You review

About BURN FOR YOU (Slow Burn #1)

Available October 17th
The marriage is fake. But for a sassy chef and an arrogant billionaire, the sparks are real… Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick’s New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fund-raiser, Bianca can’t refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother’s medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum—money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract—and a stunning ring.
The heir to a family bourbon dynasty, Jackson knows the rumors swirling around him. The truth is even darker. Still, he needs a wife to secure his inheritance, and free-spirited, sassy Bianca would play the part beautifully. Soon, though, their simple business deal evolves into an emotional intimacy he’s built walls to avoid.
As the passion heats up between them, Bianca and Jackson struggle to define which feelings are real and which are for show. Is falling for your fake fiancé the best happy ending…or a recipe for disaster?

This book is a top read of 2017 for me! I FREAKING LOVED IT! I loved Bianca (and her mama). She's a strong, independent woman who loves what she does for a living.  She's doing the best she can, takes care of her mama, and isn't looking for a man.  She also loves a good bourbon.  Unfortunately for her, the man whose family bourbon she has based her recipes around, comes to her restaurant.  He's completely alpha and absolutely infuriating.  But he also calls to her, and her to him. He can't get her out of his head. I loved the beastly side of him and I loved that he needs to marry someone. So, why not marry who is the opposite of love?!
This book was fast paced for me and I absolutely devoured it. It gave me ALL THE FEELS and I couldn't put it down. I felt all their emotions and wanted them to work out! I loved that Jackson was there for Bianca and she made him a better man. I enjoyed the depth of the characters and the realness to them. GAH! Now that I'm thinking about this book again, I want to go back and do a re-read. SO GOOD! I can't recommend this book enough!

Sloane Howell - Scored review

I really enjoyed this book! It was the follow-up story to Bossed.  I enjoy Sloane's writing style. I think it's cool that a guy can write romance. I didn't think about that fact while reading, but just commenting here that I like it! :)

Matt is the client of and friend to Ethan.  He was enamored by Kelsey from the beginning but she wants nothing to do with him. Athletes aren't her type.  But Matt is bound and determined to change her mind. The banter between them is fun and oftentimes funny.  Kelsey plays nice because he's friends with her best friend and her fiancee.  But despite outward differences, they actually have a lot in common. I really enjoyed the things he did to make her believe him and to fall for him.  He knew he couldn't lay everything out there for her to see, that he had to be careful around her.  Their story had some unique twists and turns and was one that I couldn't put down!  I definitely recommend this book! While you don't have to read Bossed first, I would recommend it!

*ARC provided by NetGalley for my honest review*

He’s a player. But she’s about to score.

Opposites really do attract* as a sassy salesgirl turns a pro athlete’s life upside down in this supercharged standalone novel of seduction from the author of Bossed.

Kelsey: My mom would tell you I’m quite the catch, but since my last boyfriend, I haven’t been dating much. Maybe it’s my rocker style or my lack of filter that intimidates the boys. So I’m pleasantly surprised when Matt Stallworth waltzes into the indie record store where I work and gives as good he gets. Turns out Matt is a professional baseball player, which should mean he’s out of my league. But if he wants to hook up with me, he’s going to have to follow my rules.

Matt: After winning my MVP award, I learned that a guy can get used to having beautiful women practically throw themselves at you everywhere you turn. But everything changes the first time I see Kelsey Martin, and something just clicks. She’s hot, snarky, and whip-smart. I’ve got to see her again. Only problem is, she sees right through all my best moves. And I’m going to have to step up my game to convince Kelsey that I’m playing for keeps.

*And sexy times ensue—for mature audiences.

Advance praise for Scored

“Fresh and funny, full of witty banter and off-the-charts chemistry! I laughed out loud reading Scored.”—Delancey Stewart, author of Mr. Big

This standalone novel includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

My Review:
Gah, I couldn't devour this book fast enough! I quickly found myself lost in Lauren and David's world. I loved that it was a non-famous girl and a famous guy.  I mean, who hasn't wished for that to happen?! Lauren is a likable character. KG wrote her in such a way that the reader feels for her. We feel her troubles and her normalcy. Lauren is making her own way in the world and David enters her life when she isn't expecting it. Soon, she gets swept up in the amazingness that is David.   These two had immediate chemistry, but they had an ease about them that pulls the reader in.  Their journey was sweet, sexy, fun and ALL THE FEELS! Both Lauren and David love what they do, but they have to find a way to make it work between them.  This is one of those books where I just loved everything about it and I don't want to ruin this story for you but I will tell you you need to one click this book RIGHT NOW! The Word Wagon is a literacy program created in 2015 by Casey Enright, a graduate of Belmont University. The Word Wagon is dedicated to providing reading opportunities and materials for children in the Middle Tennessee communities we serve. Through partnerships with community groups, such as One Generation Away, The Word Wagon is able to attend food distribution events and other community programs to reach their key publics: children and families in low-income areas of Middle Tennessee. Since 2015, The Word Wagon has traveled over 2,000 miles, hosted 36 READing Days, served over 300 children, distributed over 1,500 books. The Word Wagon exists to change children's lives one book at a time.

About Casey:

Casey Enright is the Founder and Executive Director of The Word Wagon which is a literacy organization dedicated to promote childhood literacy by providing reading opportunities and reading materials for children who lack access to books. As Colton set the champagne on the island, Crockett said hello to the kitchen staff. Movement on the screened porch caught his eye. Alexandra and Colton’s fiancée rose from the sofa and hugged. Though the women had been sitting in the dark, he recognized Alex right away.
   And he couldn’t look away.
“How long has it been since you’ve seen Alexandra?” Colton asked.
“Eleven years. She’d just graduated high school.”
The two women scooted inside. “Too cold.” Brigit’s teeth chattered and Colton pulled her close.
Crockett had liked Brigit immediately. Petite, blonde and crazy smart, she was Colton’s equal in every way that mattered. But more than that, she made him happy.
Alexandra’s eyes grew wide. “Crockett.” Her blue lips quivered.
Blood pounded through his veins. She’s gorgeous. Large, caramel eyes blinked up at him. Dark brown hair flowed over her bare shoulders. Her elegant red holiday dress showed off her womanly curves, but her breathtaking beauty captured his heart.
“Hello, Goth Girl.” As they stared into each other’s eyes, he felt like he’d come home. And eleven long years compressed into mere minutes. He remembered how her eyes sparkled when she smiled at him, or that her sweet kisses could soothe his karate injuries. And how she’d undo him with her passion.
He smiled. Her gaze slid from his eyes to his mouth, then back into his eyes. The corners of her lips lifted. Then, a flash of anger shadowed her pretty face.
She flicked her head and squared her shoulders. Alexandra Mitus in defense mode. His heart tightened. That rigid posture had been his last image of her. Goddammit. She’s still pissed at me.
“Thanks for talking, Brigit,” she said, her attention still fastened on Crockett. “Excuse me, I’m going to check on Mom.” She walked away. Before vanishing around the corner, she glanced back at him.
   He grinned. Not that pissed.
Safely out of view, Alexandra heaved in a shaky breath while trying to appear nonchalant. But she was on fire. Crockett Wilde had shorted her mind. She hated the power he had over her. Always had. My god, he’s gorgeous.
From the moment she’d laid eyes on him, at fourteen, he’d rocked her world. The summer after she’d graduated high school, they’d fallen crazy in love, or so she’d thought.
Seeing him now had awakened the best memories and the worst feelings. Clearly, time had been good to Crockett Wilde. Gangly no more, his massive, sculpted body was eye candy for her lonely soul. She’d always found him handsome, but when he’d pinned her with those baby blues she knew she was in trouble. His chiseled cheekbones and strong jawline made looking away impossible. Like years ago, his undeniably sexy accent wove a ribbon around her heart.

Stoni Alexander writes erotic romance about tortured alpha males and independent, strong-willed heroines. In a previous life, she ventured into acting, appearing in numerous television, film and stage productions before transitioning to a successful career in business. JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swoon for them.” A five time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy). It's such a strange twist of fate that I ended up as a writer. I swore up and down that I would never write, but everyone always shook their head and said, "Kathleen, you're going to be a writer." As fate would have it, they were right, and I wasn't (don't you hate that?) My favorite part of writing is creating my characters. I fall in love with everyone in each book, and it's pure magic when it all comes to life.

My Review

I was so excited to read this book! I wanted to know Gavin's side of the story and I was pulling for Gavin and Emma. And oh my goodness, this book consumed me! Gavin's secret slipped out in Dirty Little Secret and rocked Emma's world. However, she needed to hear the truth from Gavin. He realizes his colossal mistake of not telling her and he vows to make it up to her if she'll let him.  The emotions and feelings between them are too strong and she hears him out. My heart broke as the brothers had to figure out a new way and I loved the way Kendall pulls us into these characters and makes the reader feel for them! Gavin has a lot of things thrown at him, but with Emma by his side he doesn't have to handle things by himself.  The drama that was happening around them was interesting, scary and not expected! I enjoyed the twists and turns this book took and I can't recommend it enough! You WILL have to read the first book, first, for this book to make sense but this was a great conclusion to Gavin and Emma's story!

The start to a sexy new series from New York Times bestselling author, Kendall Ryan...   She’s much too innocent for me, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting the sweet, young librarian. I’m dominating and possessive, and my control streak runs a mile wide. The way she looks at me—like I’m one of the heroes in the books she loves, like I’m broken, and she wants to be the one to piece me back together—it only complicates things further. I’m nobody’s hero. But there’s no denying my tragic past reads like one of her favorite literary classics. It’s raw. Visceral. Captivating. And together, we’re a perfect mess. How am I expected to resist when the sexual sparks zap between us and set me on fire? The need to control, and claim her force my walls to come tumbling down, but when she learns my dirty little secret, will my world come crashing down with it?

A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of more than two dozen titles, Kendall Ryan has sold over 1.5 million books and her books have been translated into several languages in countries around the world. She's a traditionally published author with Simon & Schuster and Harper Collins UK, as well as an independently published author. Crystal Kaswell - Tempting review and excerpt

Crystal Kaswell
Release Date September 28, 2017

He’s my best friend’s older brother, off limits and incredibly tempting.
I shouldn’t peak into Brendon’s sketchbook, even if the tattoo artist is as brooding and stoic as the day is long. I can’t help myself. I peel it open, run my fingers along the paper, soak up every ounce of him.
His drawings are as beautiful and bold as his dark eyes and his cocky smile. Only, there, on the third page--that’s no tattoo mockup. That’s me.
Waiting in his bed.
There’s no denying it--those are my blue glasses, my green eyes, my flushed cheeks.
Brendon wants me.
The smoking hot, ten thousand miles out of my league bad boy wants me-- a good girl virgin with thick glasses and no game.
It’s perfect.
Only it’s not.
He’s my best friend’s older brother. He’s off limits.
But damn is he tempting.

My Review:

This was an okay book for me, but it was a little angsty and had too much I want her but I can't have her.  I felt like this book dragged on.  Maybe the reader is supposed to feel like Kaylee, but it got old after a while.  While I appreciate the author making us get in the characters' heads and lives, I was ready for them to either move on or actualize their feelings.  I felt bad for Kaylee, in how her parents handled her with kid gloves and didn't actually talk to her.  However, I wanted to know more than we got in that piece of the story. And while I liked these characters, I feel like it took too long to go anywhere and I had to push myself to keep reading in order to see how things would end up for Kaylee.

Exclusive Excerpt:

I take a shaky step into Inked Hearts.
The lights are dim.
The walls are adorned with purple, teal, and hot pink tinsel.
There's even a Welcome Kaylee banner hanging from the wall. It's in Emma's messy scrawl with a drawing—a tattoo mockup—in each of the fourcorners.
One from each of the guys. I recognize their styles.
I blink back a tear.
Emma bounces out from behind the desk. "Surprise. Sort of." She throws her arms around me. "I really am glad you're here."
"Me too." I hug her back. Emma is the best. This would be impossible without her.
"Didn't you throw her a party last week?" Dean moves out from his suite.
"It was her birthday." Emma steps aside. "This is different. And it's for you too. It's so cool that you're buying the shop." She turns to me. "You should have seen that meeting. Dean actually wore slacks."
"Really?" That's hard to believe.
"Don't worry. I don't mind you picturing me without my jeans." He winks. "All these parties too much fun for you, yet?"
"No. It's sweet." It really is.
He moves in to hug me hello. It's sincere—a rarity for him. I really do feel like he's glad I'm here.
I pull back with a smile. "Why are you complaining about the chance to get drunk and make a fool of yourself?"
He laughs. "That's why I like you. Sharp tongue."

My gaze flits around the room. There's Ryan and Walker lining up bottles on the front counter. But where's Brendon?
"I'm not complaining." He releases me and turns to Em. "I'm making sure I get an invite."
"You're a little old..." She smiles, reveling in her teasing.
He mimes being stabbed in the gut. When that gets her laughing, he takes it further. Pretends to double over. Falls to his knees. Mumbles his last words as he falls backward and lands on the floor, splayed out.
Emma nudges him with the toe of her shiny silver stilettos. "Dead. Let's check his pockets."
"Pervert," he mumbles.
"Not the word I'd use." Ryan steps forward. He nods to me in that I don't think there's any reason why we need to show compassion toward each other Ryan kind of way. "You're always welcome here, Kaylee."
"Thanks." I study his expression. Should we hug? Shake hands? Uh... I step forward. Move my hands out from my sides.
Ryan pulls me into a hug. It's quick. Messy. Awkward. He steps back, wipes his brow, sighs. Let's never do that again.
Dean jumps to his feet. He actually jumps from his position flat on his back. That's circus acrobat stuff.
He looks to Walker. "You joining this party too?"
Walker shrugs, effortlessly cool. He's the type who takes everything in stride. Nothing bothers him. Or so he claims.
He's a lot like Brendon, really. He's tall and broad with dark hair and dark eyes. He has that same tendency to keep everything to himself. But, with Walker, his typical state is fun, party boy. With Brendon it's serious, quiet artist.
They're the same, but they're opposites too.
He takes his turn hugging me then motions to the booze set up behind us. "What are you drinking?"
Uh... making a fool of myself at my party was bad enough. I'm not doing it in front of everyone.

But I'm not going to be the weird girl who doesn't drink either.

About the Author:

Crystal Kaswell writes fun, sexy new adult romances with damaged heroes and the strong women who unlock their hearts.

She is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller. Her best knownseries are Sinful Serenade and Dangerous noise–both follow the men in a rock band the the women they love. She adores writing bad boys, alpha males, and tortured heroes (and sometimes men who are all three).

Her weaknesses include dark chocolate, homemade chai lattes, Netflix marathons, and tattooed men in skinny jeans (especially if they’re wearing eyeliner). She is a diehard defender of pop-punk music, the present tense, and Katniss Everdeen.
