This is the book I've read from this author. I have mixed feelings about it. The first half of this book completely gutted me. I felt Jeannie's pain and loss. I cried with her as she had to endure such great loss. I was definitely sucked into the story, but as the book moved along, I was no longer grabbed by what was happening. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and sometimes the conversations they had felt forced. Overall, I enjoyed the book but small things that happened made me not fall in love with the story.
I loved the friendship between Jeannie and Marsha though. Even when life was crumbling around Jeannie, Marsha pushed through and helped her friend along. We also saw into Marsha and John's lives as their lives intertwined with Jeannie and her family. And Carmen and Kane were a great addition to Jeannie's life. It was interesting watching their story unfold.
At thirty-eight, Jeannie Franklin was a single, broke mother of two children. Having lost the love of her life and everything they worked towards, Jeannie must accept a life she never dreamed of. Forced to work two jobs, move into a trailer, and raise her children on her own, life couldn’t get any worse. Little did she know; life could get much worse.
Life takes an unexpected turn when Jeannie is forced to face more bad news. When tragedy strikes again it is more than any person can bare. This time Jeannie is forced to find a strength inside herself she never knew existed. Out of the depths of her despair a man enters her life unexpectedly. Kane Spinelli is gorgeous, wealthy and connected to her in a way Jeannie never dreamed.
Just Breathe Again is a story of resilience. It shows that the human spirit can endure more than imagined. This heartbreaking story shows that through hopelessness true love can be found.
