M.S. Parker & Cassie Wild- Serving Him Vol 3

Ahhhhh!! These cliffhangers are KILLING ME!!  And Penelope?? Needs to be punched in the face!!  Great first thoughts, huh?! I will have to go back and reread all these volumes as a whole once they all are released, but setting it up in volumes definitely keeps the reader coming back for more. I know I'm hooked!

In this episode, we learn a little more about Dominic and see the vile people that have been/are a part of his life. Aleena helps him see things differently and he realizes how much he finds himself needing her.  He's not used to needing anyone, has bad memories and he doesn't know what to do with himself and these feelings. As a reader, I feel sorry for him, but I don't want him to give up on a relationship with Aleena just because these feelings are foreign! He's trying to figure things out and Aleena lets him know that she wants to know more both about him and his preferences. She's new to his world, and she lets him know she wants to be there for him and wants him to teach her. Boy, is it hot!!!! And then the plot thickens.  I hope they can keep their momentum going and not let outside forces interfere.  I can't wait to see what's next!  Come on, June 8th!

M. S. Parker- Pure Pleasure

This book is the final installment to the series. I read the others as fast as I could but I've had to wait for this story to be released. It was worth the wait.

This story picked up right where the last book left off. Pure Pleasures had my heart breaking for Jenna and everything she was going through. There were twists and turns I didn't see coming but in the end, I really enjoyed this book. It was sad, dark at times, heart breaking and oh so sweet. Great end to the series and very enjoyable.

I can't wait to read more from this author, so I'll have to add them to my TBR list! Not to mention I'm waiting on the next episode of Serving Him from M.S. Parker and Cassie Wild.

Kim Holden- Bright Side

Book Summary:
Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

Ok, 2 words:  ugly cry. I don't even know what to say right now.  I am totally overwhelmed by this book  I loved it; I couldn't read it fast enough.  I didn't want it to end.  I enjoyed how things were revealed slowly as we got to know the characters better.  I loved the depth of the characters and loved Kate's enthusiasm for life, for family & friends, for living in the moment.  I don't know who I loved more, Gus or Keller.  Both played a large role in Kate's life and they completed her in different ways.  I don't want to give anything away, but be prepared to be blown away. This book was truly astounding.  I can't even give it justice. Please go read this book for yourself.  Seriously, dude.

Now I'm looking forward to reading her latest novel, Gus

Karina Halle- Love, In Spanish

I was really looking forward to reading this one.   This picked up where Love, In English left off, but from Mateo's point of view.  Vera and Mateo have had an interesting start to their relationship and I was sucked into their world.  I enjoyed this book from Mateo's perspective.   I loved his passion for Vera and his devotion to her.  I wanted to kick some butt in this story, but ultimately these people that made me mad helped them in the long run.  Very good story yet, I felt the ending was rushed.  I wish there had been more to their story; more of their story after conflict.

I learned of these books because I read Where Sea Meets Sky first. Which is also an amazing read! I've never wanted to travel somewhere after reading a book as I did when I read that one.  If you read these books, I recommend the 2 below, before the aforementioned book.  I knew things about Vera and Mateo from Where Sea Meets Sky that I wished I hadn't known, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the Love books!

M.S. Parker and Cassie Wild- Serving Him Vol 1 & 2

M.S. Parker and Cassie Wild- Serving Him Vol 1 & 2

So I happened upon M.S. Parker's Pleasure book series, book 1 here, a few months ago and knew I wanted to read something else in the future but hadn't done it yet. I learned last week a new book was being released as a serial. And my favorite part? They're available on Kindle Unlimited! So bring it on! So far, volumes 1 & 2 have been released. I enjoy reading a little, getting sucked in and then waiting for the next episode. Of course they stop at a critical juncture. Because, why not?! I'm totally hooked. I now have to know what's going to happen next! Who needs TV shows when you have Kindle serials.

My thoughts on Vol 1:
Oooh, I'm now invested and intrigued by Dominic Snow and Aleena Davison.  I can't wait to read Vol 2.  Looking forward to seeing how well they work together.  Did Fawna have a sixth sense about these 2?  I need to know more about Dominic. Who doesn't love a dark brooding alpha billionaire?!  Sign me up!

My thoughts on Vol 2:
And the plot thickens.... I was captivated in their world and was hoping Dominic and Aleena would get together. They had instant chemistry but because she was working for him, Aleena didn't want to give in to that connection they had.  And I wasn't expecting the ending of this part! I don't want to give anything away, but THAT character made me so mad! I hope things change and wrongs are made right in the next episode. And I want to know more about what makes Dominic tick.  Anxiously awaiting June 1st.

Do you like hot, alpha males? Dominic is intriguing, sexy and there's more than meets the eye. Check out book 1 here

Maya Banks- In His Keeping

In His Keeping from Maya Banks

I have been reading Maya Banks' books for a few years now and normally really enjoy them.  This particular book was harder to enjoy.  The romance felt rushed and slightly forced.  I still enjoyed the book, but didn't feel the relationship between Beau and Ari was quite up to par with other books of hers.  I enjoyed Ari's talents and how she learned to wield her power.  It was good to see Ramie again and I think she and Ari will become friends, as there is one more book to come and I hope we see more of them.  If you are a fan of Maya Banks, you will enjoy this book and maybe even love it more than I did.  It was just okay. I'm still looking forward to Safe At Last when it comes out.  My review:

I enjoy Maya Banks' books but this one felt a little forced. I enjoyed Ari's talents and how she connected with Ramie, but the relationship between her and Beau felt exceptionally fast and forced. It didn't capture me like previous books have.  Ari was hit with some startling information, yet she took it in stride and loved despite what she learned. She didn't let it change her.  The story was interesting, fast paced but lacked on the romantic connection for me.

Tillie Cole, Sweet Fall Review

Tillie Cole, Sweet Fall Review

I have really enjoyed Tillie Cole's Sweet Home series and I normally read books in the order of the series. Well, I messed up and read books 3 & 4 out of order by mistake.  I LOOOOOOOOOVED the 4th book, Sweet Hope, and do believe it was the best in the series.  Since I knew the future of the characters in Sweet Fall, I wasn't surprised by much, but I still enjoyed it. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't know exactly how things would end, but all in all, it was a good book.

This story was often times sad as Lexi, the main character is dealing with anorexia.  Lexi and Austin are a light for the other's dark world they are living in.  They are sweetly matched and even though they have a tumultuous start, they overcome the obstacles and find their soulmate. Their story is highly emotional and really sweet.  I feel like I can't quite give this book justice since I loved Sweet Hope so much.

I don't remember how I happened upon this author but I really enjoyed her writing. I recommend this series. The book order is as follows:

Sweet Home - book 1
Sweet Rome - book 2
Sweet Fall - book 3
Sweet Hope - book 4

Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge

So I've been trying to read Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge for awhile now.  I received an ARC of it through NetGalley and it sounded very interesting. I had a hard time getting into it and never could get myself to keep reading it. I knew the archive date was coming up and I HAD to read it so I finally forced myself to continue on with it.  While I was on vacation this weekend, I read on the plane and some at night.  Well, I finished it last night on my way home.  It was rather disappointing.  Here is my review:

I had a hard time getting through this book. I think part of it was the way the ebook came through my reader. At times, it was as if the next sentence was a completely different thought or it started a new paragraph about a different set of characters but there was nothing in the editing to warn you of the change. So as I read it, I had to stop and figure out what was going on. Very distracting. The premise of this book was interesting, but I didn't feel like the book itself lived up to the summary. I love British writers and mystery thrillers but this one was just weird. Towards the end, part of it was gross. Now, the one thing I liked was the fact there was no way to see it coming. The killer was well veiled throughout the story, then once we find out who "SHE" is, there isn't much time spent on the why. It just felt disjointed.

I really had high hopes when I requested this book and was sad that I had to force myself to read it.  I don't like leaving books unread and even if I didn't have the deadline on it, I would have gotten it done.  I hope the editing is different once the book actually releases, otherwise it's very distracting and makes for a confusing story at times. Apparently this book is the start of a sereies and I would maybe give the author another try with the next book before I completely wrote him off.   Helen's life sounded intriguing and could have potential.

Deep breath... here goes nothing!

Over the years I've had friends and family tell me I need to write a book.  Just because I read ALL THE TIME doesn't mean that I'm able to/should write a book. It's not something I've had on my radar... who knows, maybe in the future, but at this moment in time I do not feel the desire to write a book. I'll gladly sit back, grab a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and devour books from other authors!  Maybe writing a blog will ease me into writing a novel, but don't hold your breath. You'll be waiting awhile! I post every book I read on Goodreads and/or Amazon (I like to support authors as I dive into their worlds) but figure I could talk more about books here.  I will try my best to update this often, but please forgive me if you don't hear from me.  I'm testing the waters to see how this blog thing works. Maybe folks will like me, maybe they won't, but here goes nothing!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm currently reading a few different books. Yes, that's books, plural. Ridiculous, I know, but it's how I roll. I have several going at one time based on how I obtained the books. If it's a library book, then I have 21 days to read it and sometimes my holds release around the same time so it can be a struggle to find the time to read X amount of books in 21 days! And some books capture my attention so well that I read them as quickly as I can and can't put them down or distract myself with another book. I receive ARCs on occasion as well and usually have a limited window on those.  Other books are ones I have purchased and need/want to read so there you go, now you know why I have a tendency to read multiple books. Crazy, but it works for me.
Upcoming reviews to come on the following books:
Sweet Fall by Tillie Cole
Eeny Meeny by MJ Arlidge
In His Keeping by Maya Banks
Love In Spanish by Karina Halle
And of course I have a gazillion more books on my TBR shelf so once the above mentioned books have been consumed and reviewed, it's onto more!
