Star by Elliott Kane with Davida Lynn
Jill: I know what he does for a living. I'm the only one in our family who knows what he does for a living, but I can't tell anyone. How do you tell
someone that your step-brother is a porn star?
Cash: I knew exactly what I was doing to Jill all those years: I was teasing her without mercy. There was nothing more powerful than turning on your
step-sister and then shutting her down when she wanted me most. Now I don't think I can say no...
Five years is a long time to be gone, but the memories and the desire are as fresh and real as ever.
“I know you don’t just live a playboy life on my father’s money. Let’s leave it at that.” I stared him down, forcing myself to keep eye contact. Cash’s
chest moved up and down, his muscles dancing before my eyes, like they were trying to hypnotize me.
His smile grew wider. “Let’s not leave it at that. Jill, I sincerely think you should go on.” Cash pushed himself up until he was sitting upright at the
head of my bed. His hands moved down to his lap, as if he was trying to draw my eye between his legs. It worked.
“Just leave.” I could feel my plan backfiring. I wanted to get dressed and maybe get out of the house for a little bit.
“No. This is way too much fun.”
I clenched and unclenched my jaw. Cash’s eyes traveled to my laptop, then back to me. “I just needed to forward someone an email. Figured I could pop on
your computer real quick. You really should password protect it, you know. Lots of people out there who would just love to get into your private files.”
My heartbeat was so loud in my ears. He knew. My head was shaking just slightly, as if saying no would make it all go away. He knew.
I didn’t have any power. I don’t know why I thought that. He had it the entire time. Cash slid his legs off the bed. The dark denim against his
olive-tanned skin was too much. My eyes went wide as he stood up, his body looking so massively taller than mine.
“Say it.” His words were nothing more than a whisper.
My head moved side to side. “Say what?”
“We both know. Say it.”
His voice. There was something about it that was just so demanding. I’d heard it before. I’d heard it when we were growing up, and I’d heard it on his
videos. He was always in control in his scenes.
My voice was quiet, meek, and under his control. “I…I know what you do.”
Cash’s smile got wider, like he’d broken into a bank vault.
“You're damn right you know what I do.” That voice wasn't Cash's. At least not the Cash I knew. It was Cash Money. It was that arrogant, hyper-sexual porn
star that I had gotten off to more times than I could count. It wasn't my step-brother in front of me, anymore. It was a shirtless man with the best cock
in the business.
I didn't think my heart could beat any faster, but it kept surprising me. When I was afraid, I felt that heartbeat in my neck, but I wasn't afraid,
anymore. I felt that heartbeat between my legs. Blood was rushing to my hot and bothered pussy, and I knew he was getting me wetter.
In the shower, the fantasy of Cash got me wet, but I was standing right in front of him, only wearing a robe, and I admitted that I knew about his job. I
was dying for release, and I could feel the wetness on my thighs.
His eyes narrowed in, “Tell me. Say it out loud.”
This is what it's like. This is what it's like to be taken. I’d been to third base, but it was nothing like this. Just hearing Cash’s words made me feel
like I wasn't a virgin anymore. He had taken me, and made me his. He didn't know it, but I always been his. I had always been his for the taking, and now
it was time.
He repeated, “Say it out loud.”
“You’re...” I stammered the words, “You're a porn star. You're a porn star.”
My Review:
After reading the book synopsis I thought it sounded good and I like getting introduced to new-to-me authors. However, this book fell short for me. I try to overlook grammatical errors but they were scattered throughout this book and made it difficult to ignore. I hope they fixed them prior to publication.
I found the characters hard to connect with. I know Jill had been teased by Cash growing up, and then she discovered what he did for a living and bookmarked his scenes on her computer because he had always been "the guy" for her. He had always been attracted to Jill but never let himself cross that line. Until circumstances brought her back. I just felt like something was missing.
The story line skipped around and didn't stay focused. And I felt like other things were left unanswered after having spent time throughout the book dealing with it. This book just wasn't one for me.
Davida Lynn began writing two years ago after a creative life on and off stage. In her late twenties, Davida is now exploring her creativity through
storytelling. She loves strong female characters that can hold their own against sexy alpha males. She loves nothing more than getting caught up in her own
characters as their stories unfold. She believes there is power and beauty in romance, and we can all benefit from a happily ever after. Star is her first
co-write with her partner, Elliott Kane.
After six years working in a library, Davida finally took the plunge and made writing her full-time career. She has four novels and ten novellas to her
name. When she's not writing, her time is spent on the fixer upper log cabin she and her man recently bought. She lives with him and their very spoiled cat
in southern Indiana.
Elliott Kane is a part-time firefighter and full-time home improvement guru. There’s always something broken that needs a hand, but he wouldn’t have it any
other way. Elliott enjoys speed, whether that’s running, mountain biking, or standing as close to a race track as possible.
