J. Kenner - Wicked Grind review

This was such a great start to a new series! I know they are standalones and I LOVED Wyatt and Kelsey's story but I'm also looking forward to the other books in the series and I sure do love getting lost in J. Kenner's books.  I LOVED how this book weaved in the Starks. They're not prominent, but they make an appearance :) We've seen Wyatt in previous books, but he hasn't been the focus (see what I did there? ha!) until now. I thoroughly enjoyed how she wove the past with their current story.  We (the reader) get to see their past bit-by-bit.
This book was heartbreaking as their past unfolded. These two were young sweethearts and things didn't quite work out between them like they had wanted. Kelsey was a shy, girl whose dad was overprotective. Wyatt was the new guy at the country club, with a famous family. They were complete opposites, but they were drawn to each other. Wyatt couldn't get enough of her and he wanted her to like him, to want to hang out.  He learned not to overwhelm her and give himself little by little. He was so sweet to her and she let him just be with her. They clicked and seemed to completely understand each other. Then the unthinkable happened.
They weren't prepared to see each other as adults but neither one of them had forgotten the other.  When Wyatt's offer came to Kelsey, she tried to push her past aside and just do whatever he needed, but the past was wound too tightly around them and she couldn't free herself. It wasn't until Wyatt helped her, that she started to let go.  I enjoyed their dance, the push/pull they had and the way Wyatt saw Kelsey.  He helped her find herself and built her up. Their story was sweet, sexy, passionate and very well written.  J. Kenner did a great job of making me feel for both of them and giving me ALL THE FEELS! I didn't want this book to be over. I HIGHLY recommend this read!

Sometimes, it feels so damn good to be bad …

Photographer Wyatt Royce’s career is on the verge of exploding. All he needs is one perfect model to be the centerpiece of his sexy, controversial show. Find her, and Wyatt is sure to have a winner.

Then Kelsey Draper walks in. Stunning. Vibrant. And far too fragile for a project like this. Wyatt should know—after all, he remembers only too well how their relationship ended all those years ago.

Desperate for cash and frustrated with her good girl persona, Kelsey sets her sights on Wyatt’s show. But only the show. Because she knows too well that Wyatt Royce is a danger to her heart.

But when Wyatt agrees to give her the job only if he has complete control—on camera and in his bed—Kelsey can’t help but wonder if she’s in too deep. Because how can a good girl like her ever be enough for a man like Wyatt?

All Wicked novels stand alone
