A.M. Johnson - Breakaway review

Title: Breakaway
Author: A.M. Johnson
Genre: Sports Romance
 Release Date: March 15, 2018

Blurb

As Tampa Bay's star center, Mark Carmelo's life was hockey, and after a bitter and public break up, all he wanted to do was focus on the game.
Until he saw her.
The one that got away.
The one he thought he'd never see again.

For thirteen years, Stevie West drowned in her lackluster life. Recently divorced from her “roommate” with passionless benefits, she was ready to start over. On her own.
Until she ran into him.
The same man she'd met one year ago.
The temptation that had finally given her the courage to find herself again.

When lightning strikes twice, there’s no way to deny the chemistry it creates.
But with both of them still nursing old wounds, Mark and Stevie will have to find a way around the other's defenses, a way to breakaway and score the one thing they never expected… love.

My Review

This is my first A.M. Johnson book, but far from my last! OMG I couldn't put this book down. It completely consumed me! I really enjoyed how Stevie and Mark first met. The attraction between these two was strong and their chemistry was palpable. Oh how I they wished things had been different about them at the time.  When things change for Stevie, it's game over and Mark pursues her. And he does it, HARD. Oh man.  How I wish I had him knocking down my door! I enjoyed how he wooed her and seeing her fall for him. I was wrapped up in their story and didn't want to leave their world. I couldn't devour this book fast enough.  I love the athlete heroes and Mark was so swoony and fantastic. He was real, their journey gave me ALL THE FEELS and I hated when I got to The End.  I can't recommend this book enough! I LOVED IT!
