Catherine Bybee - When It Falls Apart review

I really enjoyed this read. I appreciated how realistic this story was. I follow Catherine on social media and know how much life imitates art. Brooke’s life isn’t going as planned. Her dad isn’t doing well and she has decisions she needs to make. Luckily for her, she has a best friend who she can lean on and a new home is found for herself and her dad. Her new home is unexpected but she immediately falls in love with the charm of the building, as well as the family surrounding it. The D’Angelos are a loud, loving bunch. They look out for each other. Brooke is unexpected and the chemistry between her and Luca was palpable. I adored their relationship and how he was there for her and she, him. This story was easy to get lost in and I found myself not wanting to put it down. Do yourself a favor and grab this read today!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes a bittersweet romance about the power of love in the face of heartbreak and loss.

Catherine Bybee - An Unexpected Distraction review

OH MY HEAVENS!! I think this was my favorite book from Catherine! Jax was an interesting character and I really enjoyed getting to know her. She's a tough nut and family life has her changing her plans and going back home to find out what's wrong. I so enjoyed how Jax and Andrew met. It was quite comical. But there was a definite chemistry between them once they began to talk. Jax had an unexpected opportunity to get to know her mom and they were actually able to converse. I enjoyed their family dynamics and that growing relationship. On the plus side was Andrew. These two worked really well together and I was completely lost in this story! I couldn't read it fast enough and I didn't want to put it down. Well done!!  Dear reader, please don't miss out on this book!  If you haven't started the series yet, I do recommend starting with Changing the Rules.

Family secrets and fresh romance collide in this heart-pounding Richter series installment by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

Jacqueline “Jax” Simon knows how to expose secrets: she’s a skilled operative with MacBain Security and Solutions. When Jax hears her parents are divorcing, she races to London to find out why. She’s determined to learn the truth, especially when her investigation uncovers why her parents sent her to Richter, the German military school that made her a fighter.

Andrew Craig collects Jax at Heathrow Airport as a favor. He’s heard she’s a handful, but he didn’t know she’s dangerously gorgeous too. His instant attraction could change his life…or end it.

Jax doesn’t want to fall for Andrew, but soon he’s worming his way into her life. Together, they infiltrate Richter to discover if it has returned to its covert purpose: training children to be spies and assassins and blackmailing parents to look the other way. As the attraction between the two intensifies, so do the secrets exploding all around them. How deadly are those secrets—and who will survive?

Catherine Bybee - A Thin Disguise review

Oh my goodness! I couldn't put this book down! I
LOVED it! I was really excited to get Olivia's story. As a Richter kid, she hasn't had an easy life, for many reasons. But she's trying to protect an innocent. While on the job, things don't go exactly as planned. Olivia doesn't know who she is or what secrets her past holds. I enjoyed the chemistry between Olivia and Leo! I also liked how strong Olivia is. She's not a weakling. And Leo doesn't try to change her. He wants to be there for her and help her, but not hold her back. I thought they were a dynamic duo and worked well together! I appreciated the danger/mystery around her and how they were racing the clock to find out what was really happening. I couldn't read this book fast enough and I definitely recommend the first book in this series before reading this one. You can also read my review of Changing the Rules.

A former gun for hire and a federal agent find themselves on the right side of love but the wrong end of a bullet in this Richter installment from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

On a fateful night in Las Vegas, FBI agent Leo Grant is working on a critical detail in a high-profile child prostitution trial when a beautiful woman jumps into the path of a bullet meant for him. Little does Leo know that the woman is Olivia, an ex-assassin who is seeking redemption one good deed at a time.

One minute, Olivia is lunging in front of Leo on the Vegas Strip. The next, she’s waking up in the hospital in a haze of pain with no memory of her past, her enemies, or even her own name.

With Olivia suffering from memory loss and completely unaware of the danger she is in, it’s up to Leo and Neil MacBain’s team of operatives to keep her safe. With Olivia and Leo both unaware of her past crimes, the two have little reason to avoid their growing attraction. Slowly her past seeps in through the cracks as she struggles to find the answers of who she is. When the veil is lifted and her dark past is staring her down, Olivia must turn her back on Leo and the love she can never allow herself to have, and race to find her would-be killer.

Catherine Bybee - Changing the Rules review

I was excited to start a new series from Catherine! And I found myself completely lost in Cooper and Claire's story! I enjoyed the job they were tasked with and how they had to go undercover to find out what was happening to the teenagers in the area. They had different roles and they had to maintain them, even though high school wasn't their life. I enjoyed the bantering between Claire and her friends. I liked seeing her develop the new friendships while they worked the case. She was kind and considerate but she was there to get the job done. The chemistry between her and Cooper could set my kindle on fire, but it was a nice, slow burn. I didn't want this book to end!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes the steamy first novel in her new adrenaline-fueled Richter series.

As an employee of MacBain Security and Solutions, Claire Kelly can certainly hold her own. Armed with an impressive set of covert skills, she’s more than prepared to tackle any job that comes her way…except one involving Cooper Lockman.

Cooper and Claire used to work together before his feelings for her sent him packing to Europe for six long years. But now he’s back and determined to ignore the still-smoldering heat that lingers between them.

Their current mission: go undercover together at a California high school to root out the mastermind behind a prostitution ring targeting young girls. The closer they get to the truth and the closer they get to each other, however, the deadlier their task becomes. As Claire and Cooper risk their lives to bring down their target, will their hearts be the final casualties?

I liked how he pursued her and was there for her when she needed him the most! He respected her and I was completely lost in their journey! The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't read this book fast enough.

Catherine Bybee - Home To Me review

OOOH! I was excited to dive into this book. It's the 2nd in the series so the reader met Erin during My Way To You. Erin was a private person, mainly because of her past. She didn't want to involve Parker too much, but Parker was there for her and slowly her walls came down and she shared things with Parker. I liked that Erin had a good friend in Parker. It was much needed for her. I enjoyed seeing the budding relationship between Erin and Matt. She knew she liked him, but she was timid. Matt could read her body language and was cautious with her. I liked that he wanted to care for her from the very beginning. I was completely consumed by this book! I loved the friendships, the romantic relationship and the danger that was lurking. Catherine kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't read this book fast enough! Another great read and one not to be missed!

Catherine Bybee - My Way to You review

This was a powerful and emotional story. I FELT everything Parker was going through. And as a long-time follower of Catherine Bybee, she had to deal with a fire surrounding her home and major flooding afterwards. I saw her videos she posted during this time, so she poured her story into Parker's. (If you haven't seen her videos, search her facebook page) Like Catherine, Parker is a strong, independent woman and does whatever needs to be done because she can't wait on anyone else. She's had a rough hand in life and she's making the best of things. I adored her and admired her strength. Because of the potential flooding, Parker meets Colin and neither one was looking for anyone. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and felt the pull between them. But Parker has A LOT going on! This was a great love story. I couldn't pull myself away from their world and was sad when it was over. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

A woman’s journey through tragedy leads to the discovery of love in a novel about hope and survival by New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

When a wildfire nearly destroys Parker Sinclair’s family home, it’s just one more disaster to add to her mountain of stress. For the past two years, she has shouldered the responsibility of raising her younger brother and sister after their parents’ untimely deaths. Forced to leave college for a crappy job that barely pays the bills, Parker manages her family property, which consumes every aspect of her life. Now winter is coming and the forecast isn’t spreading sunshine on the dark cloud over her head. The last thing Parker needs is a mudslide destroying everything she has worked so hard to maintain.

Colin Hudson’s job as a public works supervisor is to protect Parker’s property and neighborhood from further damage. But it’s a little hard when the owner of the land is a control freak who tries to do everything herself. The hardworking, attractive young woman is far from the “hot mess” she claims to be. In fact, her tight grip of control is one of the things that attract him the most. It’s also the hardest to crack. Now Colin’s working overtime to help Parker open up her heart, trust him, and let him in.

As Parker and Colin work together to keep her home and neighborhood safe, they may be in for another disaster. Or they may just realize that sometimes it takes destruction to create something new.

Oh my heavens! I loooooved Sasha’s story. I've been excited to get my hands on it. And man, Catherine brought ALL. THE. FEELS, action, friendships and love in this book! I was completely consumed and didn’t want to put this book down. I tried to savor all the words, knowing this book was the last one in the series. I’m sad to say goodbye but I thought this was a fantastic ending to the series! I now have a lovely book hangover.

Catherine Bybee - Faking Forever review

Oh my heavens! THIS book ya'll! Do you ever dive into a book and can't pinpoint a particular scene or thing that made you love it, you just loved it all? Yeah, that was me and this book!  I ADORED Shannon! I loved her sassiness,  her confidence and how she was ready to go after what she wanted. She wasn't going to let a stinkin' guy stop her! (Get 'em, girl!)  lol. Shannon has always seemed to be the quieter one of the First Wives, but she was not one to sit quietly. I enjoyed how she met Victor and the emotions he invoked in her. Victor wasn't prepared for this woman who dropped into his life and she was a breath of fresh air to him. I liked the slow burn this book had.  Whew! The chemistry between this couple was palpable and SO PERFECT! The circumstances of their meeting was unique, but they also didn't let it stop them from getting to know each other.  I couldn't devour this book fast enough and I certainly didn't want things to end. I'm looking forward to what Catherine is going to bring next to her readers. Don't miss this fantastic book!

Catherine Bybee - Chasing Shadows review

This is the third book of the series and so the readers have seen Avery, but I was looking forward to knowing her story. Avery is trying to overcome the brutal attack she endured. Her relationships with her parents and those that have come and gone in her life make her not want a relationship.  Yet there's something about Liam that she doesn't want him to just walk away.  Liam has no intention of leaving her. Sure, they come from wildly different backgrounds but I liked how he fought for her. He was strong and sure in himself that he didn't run.  Avery is a tough nut!  She is independent and headstrong.  There were some moments that I was annoyed by her, but I enjoyed her story.  Her First Wives friends had her best interest in mind and I liked how they got to her.  I enjoyed the fact that they liked Liam and wanted to get to know him.   I wasn't expecting for the way things developed in this story and I had trouble putting this book down.  Be sure not to miss this book!

Falling in love can come with the most unexpected risks in this First Wives novel from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

Avery Grant doesn’t date. Her first marriage was a mutually beneficial contract that gave her the financial freedom she needed to step away from her controlling parents. Wealthy and single, the last thing she’s looking for is love sneaking in to mess up her life plans. And after a brutal attack, she’s determined to never be vulnerable again, even if the new man in her life helps her feel safe.

Mesmerized from the moment he sets his eyes on Avery, Liam is driven to learn everything about this tough, sexy, challenging woman. Breaking down her defenses won’t be easy, but Liam refuses to be pushed away. All he needs is a tiny crack in Avery’s armor to wiggle his way into her heart.

But when a terrifying lie about her attacker’s fate comes to light, Avery’s past returns to haunt her. Now she’s willing to put herself in danger to get the answers she needs. That means jeopardizing the best thing that’s ever happened to her: Liam.

Catherine Bybee - Half Empty review

I LOOOOOOOOOOVED this book! I think this was my favorite book from Catherine Bybee, yet!  Or at least until the next one, amirite!? Trina is a strong woman who has spent the last year through hell.  The last thing she is looking for is a man.  While she appreciates them from afar, she doesn't want one of her own. However, Wade offers assistance when she needs it most and they fall into an easy friendship. Wade enjoyed the fact that Trina had no idea who he was and he wanted to woo her. Heck, I fell for Wade and his sweet charm! Book boyfriend? Yes, please!  I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Trina and Wade develop, but neither one of them realized what was lying ahead of them! I enjoyed the twists and turns this story brought and the way things from the past had a way of bringing itself into the now.  I don't want to say too much and give this story away.  This was a FANTASTIC read and I can't recommend it enough!  This one left me with a delicious book hangover, too.  Be sure to grab your copy today.

New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee continues her sassy series with another of the First Wives finding that love and secrets are a dangerous combination.

Trina Petrov’s marriage-by-contract was only meant to be temporary. But when tragedy strikes, Trina is left one of the wealthiest women in the world. To recover from the shock, she takes some time off in Italy, swearing not to fall for any men while there. But that doesn’t mean she can’t fall for anyone on the trip home…

Country-music superstar Wade Thomas is lying low in a hotel bar when he gets the cold shoulder from the woman next to him. He’s used to fans fawning at his boots, and Trina is a refreshing change—so is the fact that she has no idea who he is.

As things begin to heat up, Trina discovers that the circumstances of her late husband’s death are not what they seemed. Now she’s in trouble, and Wade isn’t about to let her out of his sight. Getting close to love and danger could get them killed…or it could sweep them both off their feet.

Catherine Bybee - Not Quite Crazy review

This was one of those books that I loved completely, from the very beginning. I just adored everything about it and couldn’t wait to see how Rachel and Jason’s story played out, yet didn’t want it to be over at the same time. I loved Rachel and Jason’s meet cute. I thought the way Catherine brought them together was clever.
Rachel is adjusting to a new life.  And snow isn't exactly her friend.  She has had a lot of life changes in the recent year and she's making the best choices she can.  Jason A man wasn't on her radar and certainly not the handsome, sweet man that she encounters.  While she's trying to avoid getting into a relationship, Jason keeps knocking down her defenses.  He's so swoony and I loved him!  Jason is a simple guy.  Sure, he has a great life now, but it hasn't always been that way.  He wants Rachel to know him as "just Jason" and he works hard to make her forget who he is.
Situations arose that had these two working together and they did it well.  They had quite the unexpected, eventful work situation that they didn't anticipate but in the end caused other problems.  But they were there for each other. I don't want to ruin any of this story, which is why I'm so vague.  But I enjoyed the light Rachel brought to Jason’s world and their relationship. This was an all-around great read! Get ready for the feels!

From New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes the sixth novel in the warm and witty Not Quite series.

As CEO of a private jet company, Jason Fairchild is more used to flying than driving. But if he hadn’t chosen to drive home one night, he wouldn’t have met the slowest—and most irresistible—driver in the entire metro area. Jason has never had time for love. Or dating. Or really anything that doesn’t involve work. But when he finds out that Rachel is the newest superstar in his marketing department, he can’t help wondering if fate has other plans…

Catherine Bybee - Fool Me Once review

I was sad when the Weekday Brides series was done, but was so excited for this new series from Catherine Bybee! This could not have been a better book! I was completely consumed by it and I devoured it in one sitting.  Yes, I'm a binge reader! And this book was so good that I couldn't put it down if I had tried! I love how Catherine makes the reader feel like she is there with the characters and is exploring the cruise and the many cities right along with them! I don't want to ruin this story for you by giving too much away, but just know you really need to one-click it right now.

First off, I loved how Catherine wove the Weekday Brides ladies into this new book.  While, the reader gets to see them, they specifically aren't the main focus.  Lori works with them and is now on a mission for work, fun and sun on the high seas in the Mediterranean.
The women she is cruising with have been her clients and she mothers them, but just wants them to be able to unwind without the press following them or them sharing too much information with strangers. Even though this group of women is unlikely, they have more in common than they first realize and it allows them to be free among themselves.   They are a good support system for each other when things go haywire.  Trina, Avery, Shannon and Lori form a bond on this trip and have each other's back.

As with other Bybee stories, this one has that underlying threat that you know is there and you can't see or touch it yet.  I enjoyed how she divulged that information scene-by-scene, and the reader knows there's an underlying darkness, but yet not sure what form that will take.  I also enjoyed Reed's presence among the women and I was cheering for him! Not only was he a great match for Lori, but he also kept an eye on them. I also liked how his purpose for being on the cruise wasn't given away right up front.  We had to dive into the story to see more to Reed's background.

I love how realistic Catherine's stories are and she writes in such a way that you feel like you know them and could be friends with them. I think that's why I devoured this book.  I didn't want to walk away from my friends! I loved the twists and the turns and the feels I went through while reading this book. This was a fantastic start to the series and I anxiously await future books! Hats off to Catherine for another amazing book! I HIGHLY recommend it!

**ARC provided for my honest review**

From Weekday Brides to First Wives, a dazzling series about four women and their alliance of newfound friendship, unexpected love, and second chances.

Cynical divorce attorney Lori Cumberland lives by one motto: Love is grand, but divorce is a hundred grand. With one failed marriage under her own personal belt, Lori had fallen hard and early—and it isn’t something she plans on repeating. She’s content focusing on the temporary marriages of her rich and famous clients. When she joins some of her recent divorcées on a celebratory cruise, her only vow is fun, sun, and new friends. But Lori finds herself tempted by a jury of one.

For Reed Barlow, falling into the world of private investigation was easy. He knows the law and knows how to avoid breaking it—all while doing his job. His rule to live by? No emotion, no involvement…until Lori. His charming smile and cocky attitude distracts Lori and lowers her guard, which is exactly what Reed desires.

But what appears as a one-time-only flirtation may be a plot orchestrated by Reed. As he’s taking his investigation to a dangerous level, it’s Lori who could end up in jeopardy. Reed has only one shot for Lori to grant him a second chance. But if he comes clean with her, he blows his cover. And that just might cost him the opportunity for an alliance of family…and of love.

My Review:

I absolutely ADORED this book. I loved going back to Zoe, Mel and Jo's friendship. I loved their relationship and how supportive they are of each other. I enjoyed how Jo was trying to do something for herself for once, even when she wasn't sure she had made the right decisions. I appreciate the realism to Catherine Bybee's characters. Her females are strong and the alpha men in their lives aren't intimidated by them.
I enjoyed watching Jo grow in her career and felt bad for her when she suddenly felt ashamed of where she came from.  Yes, things were different in a small town, but Jo was good at what she does.  I liked how she kept up with her dad's way of doing things with the teens and gave them an outlet before things got worse for them. I was cheering on her track team right along with her.  And let's talk about Gill.  SHEW BOY! This man is hot and perfect for Jo! She wasn't looking for a relationship, in fact she's been the non-relationship girl and yet she was pulled towards him. Their initial meeting was delicious and I loved how that was orchestrated. haha Read and you'll find out about that one! I LOVED how he treated her. This book gave me the FEELS and I enjoyed the underlying mystery and suspense that was happening along with the sweet romance. This book packs a punch and I can't recommend it enough!

Zoe Brown may have been voted Most Likely to Never Leave River Bend, but the paper-thin walls and suffocating air of her family’s double-wide trailer were not what she wanted for her life. Other than BFFs Melanie and Jo, the only thing that kept Zoe sane during high school was her boyfriend, Luke.

She didn’t just leave, she escaped—turning her back on the shame of her black-sheep siblings and imprisoned dad. Now a celebrity chef in Dallas, she can afford all the things she never could have growing up. But when she returns to rustic, ruggedly beautiful River Bend, Zoe has to face all that she abandoned—including Luke.

While Luke was a refuge for Zoe in the past, he knows they inhabit totally different worlds now. Anchored by his parents and his job as a mechanic in his father’s shop, Luke never felt the urge to leave River Bend—until Zoe’s return.

But when the two rekindle their old flame, Zoe is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: remain in River Bend and confront her past before it destroys her, or say good-bye to everyone she’s ever loved…again, this time for good.

MY REVIEW:
If you've followed my blog at all, you may have noticed that I ADORE Catherine Bybee's books! She's one of my go-to authors that I will always make room for because I love spreading her books to you guys! And this book was my first book hangover of 2017.  Staying For Good had all the feels!

Zoe was a strong female character who had to deal with a lot life had thrown her way. She was making it! She had to remove the negativity as much as she could and she was living life her way. However, Luke still had a place in her heart. He was her first love and he had never truly gone away from her thoughts or her heart.  Luke had never had a desire to leave their hometown.  He had loved Zoe fiercely before she left town.  It was a young love and he moved on the best he could, but she too still had a place in his heart.

This book begins with a bit of backstory on these two, then we move to present day.  We see how they have gotten to where they are today, what they're doing, who they're still friends with and see that recently life has thrown them together a little more.  Luke is the right amount of laid back and alpha when he needs to be.  He understands Zoe and sees what she needs and she gets him as well.  He's her rock and watching them together was oh-so-sweet! It was a little bittersweet and sad sometimes too, but it was great watching their story! Ok, so yes, I was reading it, but don't we picture things happening vs just words on a page?! I loved their journey, their love and didn't want this book to end! Don't let this book pass you by! One-click it right now!

Catherine Bybee - Not Quite Perfect review and giveaway

NOT QUITE PERFECT
Not Quite Series, Book Five
Montlake Romance, Contemporary
September 20, 2016, First Edition
Paperback & Kindle

With true love, there’s no such thing as a safe distance.

Mary Kildare knows how to read people. It’s both why she makes a great therapist and why she refuses to trust the average bachelor. Staying fiercely independent has been her primary relationship strategy—until wealthy playboy pilot (and commitmentphobe) Glen Fairchild reappears in her life. After a yearlong teasing tug-of-war, Mary and Glen test the waters of attraction, only to find that their physical chemistry runs deeper than flirtation.

At first, a bicoastal romance suits them both—especially since Glen can swoop in and whisk Mary away on one of his company’s planes. But no matter how close they get, they’re still three thousand miles apart. And when Mary’s life is threatened, Glen realizes the one luxury he doesn’t have is time. Can he close the distance between them before it’s too late?

My Review:

This book was so sweet. Ohhhh the feels!!!! Catherine Bybee is the queen of the feels! Her characters are real, the women are sweet and sassy and the men are alpha goodness. And Glen! *Swoon!* He's chivalrous, romantic and a good guy! And he's a pilot to boot! Yes, please.

I love the mystery /drama Catherine's stories hold. Not only is there romance between Mary and Glen, but something happens Mary has to figure out. And it's so maddening! Poor girl. And I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it all to play out. Sleep? Who needs it?! I couldn't go to bed I was so wrapped up in this book.

The story line was fun, scary, sad and quite romantic at times. This book was a good blend and it definitely held my attention. I didn't want to put it down!! I was completely wrapped up in Glen and Mary's budding relationship and their friendships with friends and family in their lives.  Another great book in the series and one not to be missed! Go get your copy today. And? You're welcome!
