S.J. Sylvis - Chasing Ivy review

This was my first S.J. Sylvis book and I enjoyed it. Ivy and Dawson were best friends.  They were inseparable and while everyone else could see more, they were only friends.  Things literally changed overnight for them and separated them for six years.  Life wasn't as sweet without the other in it.   And of course, life changed them in that time.  When they're put in each other paths again, the past and the present collide.  They have to learn a new normal.  This books was angsty and full of emotion. The sexual tension between these friends was palpable through the pages. I wanted to root for their second chance! And I can honestly say I enjoyed the majority of this book.  There was a piece that felt like it went way out in left field, but S.J. brought it back and I felt better about things.  Just a personal preference, it may not affect you like it did me.  If you're looking for a sweet, second-chance love story, you've found what you need!

Six years ago, I had a best friend with sky-blue eyes, purposefully messy brown hair, and a body that made every single girl drool on sight. I would know—it drove me absolutely crazy…until I was the one doing the drooling.

Our days were filled with stomach-hurting laughter accompanied by easy conversation, and our nights were filled with secret, awkward teenage flirting.

But that was when Dawson was just my best friend. Nothing more, nothing less.

And then… it was more.

It’s a memory I pretend to see through blurry eyes, hazed by passing years of no communication. The one night that my heart was suddenly soaring through the starry night, only to catch fire as it rapidly descended seconds later.

Six years was a long time to get my heart under control. A lot has changed, and yet here I am, still drooling over Dawson—my ex best friend.
